Chris Sutton has predicted Manchester United to defeat Burnley 2-1 at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday, April 27.

The Red Devils won 1-0 at Turf Moor when the two sides met earlier in the season. Bruno Fernandes scored a magnificent volley in that game to help his side get over the crossing line back in September.

United, however, have struggled for form in recent times. They have often made easy games on paper look difficult. The same was on display when they beat bottom-placed side Sheffield United 4-2 midweek at Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag's side ended up going behind twice in that match.

Sutton has pointed that out and has further reflected on Burnley's recent spur in form. However, he thinks Fernandes, the hero of the game against Sheffield with two goals and an assist, will once again make an impact, helping side win 2-1. Sutton wrote for BBC:

"Manchester United never seem to make things easy for themselves, as they showed again in midweek. The one time I predict them to win a game, against bottom side Sheffield United, they ended up going behind twice before turning it around."

He added about Burnley:

"Burnley have given themselves a chance of staying up and, if you look at their recent performances, they've been pretty consistent. The Clarets' results have improved too- they have only lost one of their past seven games, and would have picked up more than 10 points if not for some costly goalkeeping errors."

Sutton added:

"So they'll be up for this one, and they already gave United a difficult game at Turf Moor earlier in the season, when they lost out to a brilliant Bruno Fernandes volley."

Sutton continued:

"I don't always agree with Fernandes' antics, but he's such an important player for Erik ten Hag's side. After rescuing them against the Blades on Wednesday, he will probably help them get over the line this game too."

Manchester United are keen on finishing the season strongly after what has been a tumultuous campaign. Burnley, on the other hand, are looking to avoid relegation.

Manchester United vs. Burnley: recent forms of both teams

Manchester United are currently sixth in the Premier League table with 53 points from 33 matches. The Red Devils' current form is far from impressive.

They have won only one of their last five matches, against Sheffield United. Manchester United have lost one and have drawn three of their last five games, amassing a total of six points out of the possible 15.

Burnley, on the other hand, are 19th in the league with 23 points from 34 matches. Their recent form is identical to that of United's, one win, three draws, and a defeat in the last five matches.
