Liverpool fans have taken to social media to hail Reds midfielder Naby Keita for his clinical performance against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp's side extended their winning run in the league to eight matches with a 2-0 victory over Brighton on Saturday. Luis Diaz opened the scoring at the Amex Stadium, while Mohamed Salah's second-half penalty sealed the game for the visitors.

The likes of Diaz, Salah and Joel Matip, who provided the assist for Liverpool's opener, mainly received plaudits following the match. Reds supporters, though, also took note of Keita's performance against the Seagulls.

Keita did not contribute much to the Reds' attack, but was key to keeping the Brighton players at bay. Here are some of the best tweets about the Guinea international following the match:

One Liverpool fan wrote on Twitter:

"Naby Keita being a defensive liability was such a weird narrative."

The 27-year-old boasted a pass accuracy of 85.7 per cent on Saturday. Only Sadio Mane registered a better number than the midfielder among the Liverpool players who started the game.

Keita has often been criticized for his poor defending in the past. However, the former RB Leipzig midfielder was solid for the Merseyside-based club against Graham Potter's side.

The Guinean made two interceptions for Liverpool on the afternoon. He also made one tackle. It is worth noting that Keita made his 100th appearance for the Reds against Brighton.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp addresses Naby Keita's contract situation

Naby Keita has his contract with the Reds expiring at the end of the 2022-23 season. As of now, there have been no suggestions that a fresh deal is on the cards for the midfielder.

Addressing the Guinean's situation, Jurgen Klopp suggested that the club are in talks with his agents over a new deal. Nevertheless, the German expects the 27-year-old to have a great future. He said:

"Naby’s future will be great. He's an amazing player. All the rest, I understand really that these questions about contracts are constantly happening but the club is in talks with all the agents of all the people."

The Anfield outfit signed Keita from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig for an initial sum of £52.75m in 2018. While his arrival was one that excited the Reds supporters, he has struggled to live up to expectations due to injuries and inconsistency.

However, Keita will be looking to establish himself as a key player for the Reds as he enters the final year of his contract.
