Fans have taken a dig at Arsenal after Bayer Leverkusen produced a first-ever unbeaten Bundesliga season with a 2-1 home win over Augsburg on Saturday (May 18). The Gunners produced a historic unbeaten season of their own in the Premier League in 2003-04.

It has been a truly memorable campaign for Xabi Alonso's men who are still unbeaten 51 games across competitions into the season. Victor Boniface gave Leverkusen the lead at the BayArena inside 12 minutes before Robert Andrich doubled their advantage 15 minutes later.

Mert Komur pulled one back for Augsburg just afrer the hour mark, but Leverkusen held on for all three points. It was their 28th win in 34 league games, with six draws. One fan reacted, taking a dig at the Gunners:

"Proper Invincibles Arsenal, not your pretend ones"

Another took a dig at current Gunners boss Mikel Arteta:

Olubunmi Aro chimed in:

"Arsenal cannot talk again. Congratulations to Leverkusen"

Ikorodu President wrote:

"At least now Arsenal fans won't be going around claiming they're the only club that finished the season unbeaten."

CBankym wrote:

"Arsenal should never talk about invincible again"

Xeverade reckons:

"This is actually insane"

Arsenal did go unbeaten in their 2003-04 Premier League-winning season, but it was not an unbeaten season across competitions, which Leverkusen could accomplish.
