Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr. limped off the pitch during the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying match between Brazil and Paraguay on Tuesday, June 10. The news will worry Los Blancos, who are just a week away from their 2025 FIFA Club World Cup campaign in the United States.
The 24-year-old emerged as Brazil’s knight in shining armor in Sao Paulo as his 44th-minute goal gave Seleção their ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, he was subbed off in the 78th minute due to discomfort after a collision with Paraguayan defender Martin Cáceres.
While he was coming off the pitch, Vinicius was seen grimacing as he limped past Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti. The manner in which he came off the pitch has left Real Madrid fans worried about a potential injury to the Brazilian forward. According to GOAL, the extent of Vinicius’ injury remains unknown.
New Los Blancos manager Xabi Alonso could have to rely heavily on Rodrygo in the upcoming Club World Cup if Vinicius is injured. Real Madrid will kick off the tournament with a match against Al-Hilal on June 18. Along with the Saudi Pro League giants, they are paired with Liga MX side Pachuca and Austrian side RB Salzburg in Group H of the competition.
Vinicius ended the 2024-25 campaign with Real Madrid with 39 goal contributions in 52 appearances across competitions.
