Real Madrid are reportedly keeping a close tab on Georgian youngster Saba Kharebashvili. The 16-year-old Dinamo Tbilisi player has caught the attention of the LaLiga giants following a promising rise to top-tier football in his home country.
Kharebashvili plays as a left-back. The teenager broke into Dinamo Tbilisi’s first team at the age of 15 and has established himself as a first-team regular at the club. For a player of his age, Kharebashvili has shown immense maturity and acumen for the game. Standing at 1.86m tall, he is also capable of playing as centre-back or a right-back.
Since making his debut for Dinamo Tbilisi in 2023, the youngster has amassed 25 appearances for the club, contributing two assists. He also featured in a UEFA Conference League qualifier for the club in July 2024.
As per Spanish media outlet Diario AS, the teenager is now attracting interest from Real Madrid. The report adds that Barcelona are also monitoring Kharebashvili.
There have been direct transfers from the Georgian league to top European sides in recent seasons. Notable mentions include Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Napoli) and Valencia’s goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili (who will join Liverpool next season). Kharebashvili could be the next biggest football export from the Eastern European nation.
Real Madrid are looking to bolster their defensive unit with signings in the upcoming windows. Although Kharebashvili is still young and hugely inexperienced, he could be a future star for Los Blancos.
Real Madrid reportedly want to sell 3 first-team stars in January
According to Fichajes.net, Real Madrid want to sell Ferland Mendy, David Alaba and Aurelien Tchouameni in the upcoming January transfer window. Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly sanctioned the departure of the trio and is looking to revamp his squad for the season ahead.
Tchouameni has failed to impress based on the club’s standards. Mendy's days at the Santiago Bernabeu are said to be numbered as the club looks to rope in Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich. Meanwhile, Alaba’s prolonged injury problems have left the club unimpressed as he has been out since last year.
Los Blancos have struggled to hit top form this season. They are second in LaLiga and trail rivals Barcelona by nine points but with a game in hand. In the Champions League, they have won two of four games and are ranked 18th in the league phase of the competition.
