Real Madrid are preparing to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup. Xabi Alonso's team will face Al-Hilal at the Hard Rock Stadium on Wednesday, June 18, in their first game in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Rodrygo Goes is unlikely to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer. Elsewhere, a Spanish defender has agreed to extend his association with Los Blancos.

On that note, let's look at the major Real Madrid transfer stories from June 15, 2025.

Rodrygo Goes is unlikely to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke. The Brazilian's future has been subject to speculation in recent weeks, and he is reportedly wanted by Arsenal this summer.

However, speaking recently to Football Insider, O'Rourke insisted that Rodrygo is looking forward to playing under Xabi Alonso.

“There has been lots of speculation over Rodrygo. He was unhappy with his lack of playing time under Carlo Ancelotti last season, but it does seem that he is now content at Real Madrid. He’s happy to stay and looking forward to playing under the management of Xabi Alonso," said O'Rourke.

He continued:

“There have been links with Arsenal, but as things stand the player is happy to stay at Madrid. He wants to stay and fight for his place in the team next season. If he was to leave Real Madrid, he’s going to have a huge price tag on his head and huge wages as well which will make it a difficult proposition for some clubs. I fully expect Rodrygo to stay at Madrid.”

Rodrygo registered 14 goals and 10 assists from 51 games across competitions in the 2024/25 season.

Raul Asencio has agreed to extend his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu, according to journalist Miguel Angel Diaz. The Spanish defender was promoted to the senior team last year amid a series of injury troubles.

Asencio was very impressive, registering 42 appearances for the first team. Real Madrid are pleased with his efforts and have now convinced him to agree to a new deal until 2031.

Franco Mastantuono wanted to stay at River Plate until the end of the year

Franco Mastantuono was eager to stay at River Plate until the end of this year, according to club president Jorge Brito. Real Madrid recently announced that they have secured the player's services.

Speaking to journalist Juan Cortese, Brito added that Los Blancos were reluctant to let the player stay for six more months at the Estadio Monumental.

“Whoever is angry about this, let it be with me. We weren’t able to achieve our goal of keeping Franco Mastantuono until the end of the year. Real Madrid reached the point where they were like, ‘It’s this or nothing,'” said Brito.

He continued:

“The way it materialized was through a clause executed by the player in agreement with the club, which is why the instalments appear. Franco Mastantuono made every effort to stay until the end of the year, he tried until the last minute. He helped River Plate create pressure to stay, and I can’t deny that. We always found a willingness, because he loves River.”

Mastantuono will join Los Blancos once he turns 18 on August 14.
