The Reds took an early lead in the 11th minute when Mac Allister timed his run to perfection, converting Mohamed Salah's delightful cross from close range. Bologna found their rhythm late in the first half but were denied by the woodwork in the 32nd minute from Ndoye's effort.

The visitors bravely searched for an equalizer after the break but were undone by Salah's sensational screamer into the top-left corner in the 75th minute.

"There is room for improvement" - Alexis Mac Allister gives his verdict on Liverpool's transition under Arne Slot

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has admitted the Reds have room for improvement as they continue to fully come together as a unit under Arne Slot.

Slot has done a remarkable job since replacing club icon Jurgen Klopp over the summer. The Dutchman has won eight games out of his nine in charge across all competitions so far - becoming the first manager in the club's history to do so.

“It is clear we are in transition, we are happy with the ideas, we are trying to get there. There is room for improvement, that's why we work very hard every day."

The Argentine midfielder also gave his thoughts on the game:

“I’m really happy personally but for the team. He [Alisson] made some good saves. Sometimes I think we need to defend better, at least Ali showed how good he is. I’m happy for him and for the team.”
