Pundit Gary Neville has opened up on Manchester United superstar Marcus Rashford's exclusion from matchday squad in recent games. For the third game in a row, Ruben Amorim has not named the 27-year-old in his matchday squad.

Rashford was not named in Manchester United's matchday squad against Manchester City last week which the Red Devils won 2-1. Ruben Amorim again decided to leave the England international out of his squad against Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup quarter-final in midweek.

Even though the Red Devils lost 4-3 at the hands of Ange Postecoglou's side, Rashford's fortunes have not changed. The forward has again missed out on a spot in the 20-man squad against Bournemouth on Sunday, December 22.

While speaking regarding Rashford's situation, Gary Neville has insisted that something must have gone wrong. He also admitted that he is no longer surprised with Rashford's absence. The Red Devils great said, as quoted by UtdPlug on X:

“Rashford's absence isn't really a surprise any more. It's something of the norm. You leave him out for three matches on the bounce, something really is going wrong or has gone wrong.”

Rashford has endured tough times on the pitch over the last couple of seasons following a phenomenal 2022-23 season. The forward scored 30 goals and provided nine assists in 56 appearances that season but has not been the same since.

The versatile attacker only managed to produce eight goals and five assists in 43 appearances last season. His tally, however, somewhat improved this season with seven goals and three assists in 24 games.

Rashford has spent his entire career at Manchester United having come through the club's youth ranks. He has made 426 appearances for the Red Devils till date having contributed 143 goals and 63 assists.

Barcelona make contact with Manchester United regarding loan deal for out-of-favor star: Reports

Barcelona have reportedly contacted Manchester United over a loan deal for out-of-favor Marcus Rashford. As reported by Football Transfers via Caught Offside, the Catalan giants want the Englishman on loan with the option to make it permanent for £35 million.

Rashford has gone out of favor at Old Trafford following the arrival of Ruben Amorim at the hot seat. The 27-year-old has now been excluded from the Red Devils' matchday squads in three successive games.

Rashford is understood to be ready to depart his boyhood club and wants a new challenge. He is said to be open to a move to Camp Nou although Manchester United are not convinced with the potential £35 million fee.
