Manchester United legend Gary Neville has commented on the speculation surrounding the future of star Marcus Rashford.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano reported this week that Rashford is concerned with his lack of game time and is contemplating his future at the club. He has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring five goals and making two assists.

Neville immediately reacted to the news by replying to the Tweet and saying:

"Here we go."

The former United defender has now commented further on the situation.

He tweeted:

"(It's) a failure for United’s football department if he leaves. A very poor look for (Rashford) if he can’t get his form right to break into this team. (Rashford's) team would be naive if they think his off-pitch voice will carry without the (Manchester United) badge. Lose/Lose if he goes. Sort it out!"

Neville has been heavily critical of the United squad this season following their woeful performances.

He explained his comments about Rashford's voice not carrying as much weight if he were not playing for Manchester United. He tweeted in response to a user:

"It’s just a proven fact if you play for United you will gain more traction and reach with your voice. This isn’t just for Rashford. It’s for all of us that played for the club."

Speculations are increasing by the minute with concern for Rashford's future. It begs the question as to where he would be moving to if he were to get a transfer out of Old Trafford.

His performances this season have been stagnant and he has looked a shadow of his usual best. He has scored just four goals in 18 Premier League appearances so far this season.

Paris Saint-Germain were immediately linked by the Daily Mail with a move for Rashford on the back of reports he was unhappy.

They are currently dealing with a transfer saga of their own in the form of star man Kylian Mbappe, who is desiring a move to Real Madrid.

Rashford could be seen as a potential replacement for the outgoing Frenchman.

The England international has in the past stated his admiration for La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.

He told the Guardian in an interview:

"I would never say no (to playing in another country). I'm a big fan of Real Madrid and Barcelona because they've always had great players and played attractive football. Everybody watches Real Madrid and Barcelona."

But with Madrid tracking Mbappe and Barcelona looking to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, a move to either side seems unlikely.

Currently, if Rashford were to stay in the Premier League, Newcastle United and Arsenal are being viewed as potential suitors.

Newcastle are now the richest club in world football following the Saudi-led consortium's takeover of the club in October last year. Rashford could be seen as a huge star to propel them into the upper echelons of European football.
