Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has responded to questions regarding Mohamed Salah's comments about his contract situation. The Dutch tactician stated that while contract talks are a big issue in the media, they don't come up at the training ground.

After the Reds' 3-2 Premier League win over Southampton at St. Mary's Stadium on Sunday, in which he scored a brace, Mohamed Salah addressed his contract situation publicly. His future at Anfield currently remains uncertain, as he is yet to receive a contract extension offer from his employers. He told the press (via Metro):

"We are almost in December and I haven’t received an offer to stay at the club yet so I am probably more out than in... I’m focusing on the season and I’m trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I’m disappointed but we will see."

Arne Slot was asked about these comments and the situation surrounding the Egyptian winger's contract at the club. However, he refused to divulge any details in his press conference, stating (via Metro):

"I’ve said many times that we don’t share this [details about negotiations] over here. The only thing I can say is that if I look at my lineups, Mo is more in than out."

The Liverpool boss further added:

"I don’t think he is distracted at all... He’s just fully focused on the game tomorrow and I think these kinds of things are big in the media and with fans but I didn’t see one player talk about it at training, at least while I was there... Players are also focused on the short term and that is Madrid and Manchester City..."
"So I don’t think there are any distractions for him or the players and definitely not for me. I was working yesterday on preparing the team in the best possible way and there was not one time where I thought about sitting here today talking about Mo."

Mohamed Salah has been an integral part of Liverpool's attack this season, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in 12 Premier League games.

Liverpool legend labels Mohamed Salah as selfish for contract comments

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has labeled Mohamed Salah as selfish for his comments regarding a contract extension at the club. While the 32-year-old has been instrumental to the club in recent years, winning the Premier League and Champions League during his time, uncertainty around his future remains.

Carragher was not pleased with Salah's comments, telling Sky Sports (via the BBC):

"I must say I am very disappointed with Mo Salah. If he keeps putting comments out, his agent puts out cryptic messages, that is selfish. That is thinking about themselves and not the football club."

There have been reports that Salah could potentially leave for Saudi Arabia at the end of his contract. However, he remains in prime form for the Reds, who will certainly be looking to cement an extension with the Egyptian.
