Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that he would bet on Spain to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Al-Nassr captain backed La Roja as the favourites; however, he also wants Portugal to win the coveted title.
Ronaldo also talked about how playing against younger players helps him stay motivated. He told Portuguese outlet O jogo:
"Spain, certainly. We'll see, because historically it's not the same. Spain is used to winning a bit more. If I had to bet, I'd say Spain will certainly be there."
He added:
"Portugal, hopefully. I don't know what's going to happen, and it doesn't worry me. The moment is beautiful. I'm competing with players 20 years younger, which motivates me to continue. I'm happy. I can't talk about tomorrow, because life and football change, so I live in the moment."
Before the World Cup, Portugal will face Spain in the final of the UEFA Nations League on Sunday, June 8. Os Navegadores defeated Germany 2-1 in the semifinals earlier this week, where Cristiano Ronaldo scored the winner and helped Portugal secure a place in the summit clash.
Meanwhile, Spain beat France 5-4 at the MHP Arena in Stuttgart, Germany. Young players like Lamine Yamal, Nico Williams, and Dean Huijsen will be leading the Spanish side, while Ronaldo's experience will guide Portugal.
Spanish defender Dean Huijsen talks about facing Cristiano Ronaldo in UEFA Nations League final

New Real Madrid signing Dean Huijsen has stated that he's ready to face Cristiano Ronaldo in the Nations League final.
The Spanish also dubbed the Portuguese attacker as one of the best in history, while claiming that playing against him was a dream for many footballers. The former Bournemouth defender told COPE (via Madrid Universal):
"For me, he is one of the best in history, for every kid, for every youngster who plays against Critinao Ronaldo, it's like a dream to play against him."
Huijsen gave a decent performance against France, completing the most passes (58) for his side, making six recoveries, three clearances and two blocks. He also scored a goal in the 43rd minute off a Martin Zubimendi volley; however, it was disallowed as offside.
