A fan showed off an incredible Lionel Messi tattoo imprinted on his leg in the lead up to Argentina's clash against Paraguay in their latest 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying game.

Messi came on as a substitute during the game. The Argentina captain has been sporadic for both club and country since sustaining a muscular issue during the previous international break.

Messi is one of the most adored players among fans in world football. A fan displaying an artwork of the 36-year-old on his leg in a recent video posted by ESPN Deportes has now caught the attention of netizens.

Lionel Messi can be seen wearing an Argentina jersey in the tattoo on the fan's left leg. The tattoo also included some incredibly detailed elements revolving around the Argentina captain.

Argentina continued their winning run with a slender 1-0 triumph against Paraguay. Defensive stalwart Nicolas Otamendi netted the solitary goal of the match.

La Albiceleste have scored the full nine points from their first three qualifying matches. They will return to action on October 18 against Peru. Whether Messi starts the next match remains to be seen.

Lionel Messi was involved in an altercation with Antonio Sanabria

While Lionel Messi usually keeps his on-field composure quite well, the Argentina captain was involved in a heated moment with Paraguayan forward Antonio Sanabria in the latest FIFA World Cup qualifying match.

Sanabria, who plays for Serie A club Torino, appeared to spit on Messi in the 84th minute. The duo were involved in a heated moment and Messi was fuming at Sanabria.

Speaking about the situation, Messi said after the game (via Roy Nemer):

"Sanabria? They told me in the locker room that someone spat on me. The truth is that I don't even know who that boy is. I prefer not to talk, otherwise he's going to go out and talk everywhere and will be known."

Messi came on as a 53rd minute substitute for Julian Alvarez against Paraguay. He completed two dribbles, hit the woodwork once, and completed 17 of his 23 attempted passes during the match. Messi also won four ground duels during his team's win.
