"We’ll see what happens" - 2022 World Cup winner speaks out amid rumors linking him with a Barcelona move

There have been rumors that 2022 World Cup winner Guido Rodriguez could sign for Barcelona this summer, and now, the midfielder has addressed his future.

Some reports revealed that a two-year deal, with a third year optional, was in the works for the 30-year-old, who has been at Real Betis since 2020. He has been a very consistent player for Balompie, playing 166 games across all competitions since he made the switch from Club America.

With a move from the Seville club to Barcelona being reported, Guido Rodriguez has come out to assert his happiness at Betis, saying (via Barca Universal):

“I feel at home at Betis. I feel very comfortable here, I’m very happy, I’ve been here for four and a half years and the truth is that I’m happy, very happy and enjoying these last remaining games of the season."

Talking about his future, he added:

“You have to make decisions in life and well, we’ll see what happens at the end of the season. The truth is that as of today, neither I nor the club have any certainty about what might happen.

"There is not a single option on which my decision depends. It depends on many things. I’ve already said it, it’s a recurring theme and I don’t want to create any false expectations or say anything for people."

The 30-year-old midfielder reiterated his love for Real Betis, saying:

“What I am saying is that I am very fond of this club, the people, even the president, that we are in contact when he is at the club and we get on well. In the end, the decision depends on many things.”

Rodriguez has made 25 appearances across competitions this season and also contributed two goals and one assist.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta discusses finances ahead of summer transfer window

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has provided an update about the club's potential ability to make moves in the upcoming transfer window. The Catalan giants have struggled with their finances in recent years, but Laporta believes they are on the right path to sign players.
