Neymar doesn't want to be compared to 'metrosexual' Beckham

Neymar: I’m no ‘metrosexual’ like Beckham

Brazilian football superstar Neymar has revealed that he does spend quite a bit of time grooming his looks and ensuring he looks his best, on as well as off the field, but he cannot be compared to English football legend David Beckham who was in a different league altogether.

Neymar, whose exaggerated standard of living, resembles that of the former English midfielder’s during his heyday, refused to call himself ‘metrosexual’, repeating that the 21-year old Brazil international can nowhere be compared to Beckham.

“Yes, it is true that I like to go out and buy new clothes, nice perfumes and hair products,” Neymar told Surface.

“I do not see myself as a metrosexual, though. That was more something for Beckham, who was more stylish.

“I might be a bit pretentious, but I don’t see that as a problem.”

The 38-year-old Beckham, who spent several years rendering his service to numerous cash-studded clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain was famed for his trendy looks and extravagant lifestyle.

Neymar also cleared issues regarding his over enthusiasm on the field in terms of jumping and diving, insisting that he only does so to protect himself from aggressive defenders.

“I occasionally jump and dive, but only to protect myself. I want to make sure that defenders cannot injure me.”

Neymar who is known for his acceleration, speed, dribbling and finishing on the pitch signed a deal with Barcelona from Santos for €57 million.
