Barcelona ace Neymar has had a very good season so far. But the secret to his success has finally been revealed. The winger is superstitious and has a five-step process before every game.
The 24-year-old is set to play against Sporting Gijon as Barcelona attempt to stay at the top of La Liga. The player spoke about his pre-match ritual during a promotional tour of his football tournament “Neymar Jr Five”
Here are his five rituals:
1) Speaking to his father
Neymar has an excellent relationship with his father. He partakes in Neymar’s financial activities as well. Neymar’s father acts as part agent The forward was linked with several clubs including PSG and Madrid this season but has denied all of those rumours. “I always call my father, to talk before the game”, said the player.
2) Listening to Music
Several athletes love to listen to music. Neymar is one of those players who does exactly that. Music usually helps calm down nerves and gain focus as well. The forward’s control and performance on the pitch must be a result of him turning in before every game.
He has also been pictured several times before a match with his headphones on showing how much he loves music.
3) Reciting prayers
We see Neymar celebrate many times by pointing to the sky.Yes, we also see him do the occasional samba dance but thanking God is something he never forgets to do. He always recites a small prayer to God before he starts every game as well asking for his blessing.

4) Going to the bathroom
Nobody likes to be uncomfortable when playing any sport and Neymar ensures he is completely prepared. The forward makes a visit to the bathroom before every game because he does not want nature calling him when he is one-on-one with the keeper!
