Arsenal signed a winger and they also let go of one. Everton sealed a deal for Nigeria international Alex Iwobi on Deadline Day and the Toffees' manager Marco Silva was excited to add him to his squad. Speaking about the transfer, he said,

"We have our targets. Alex (Iwobi) was one of our main targets. When you are planning a squad, we plan with some names. I did my job with the names for our football structure.
"We had names, the market was difficult. When we lost Lookman we looked for one winger, not two. We have a very good player. It is out of my control. It was not just our club interested in Zaha."

Everton, however, could not sign a replacement for Kurt Zouma who returned after his loan spell and Silva did not take any prisoners when he talked about his disappointment at the same.

"I will be honest, it's not the best scenario for me as a coach. We have had our targets since the first day, not just one, not just two, more than that, but for many reasons we didn't get them. It is what it is, that's football, it's not the best scenario to start with three central defenders.
"When it happens, it's a good opportunity - we never had any doubt about Yerry Mina when he was fit last season, he was a really important player for us. He's adapted more now, he's in better shape having pre-season with us. But if you'd ask me if I would like to have more competition at centre-back, that is true."
