Nigeria FA backs Super Eagles to defeat Ethiopia

Lagos, Oct 10 (IANS): Nigeria will give the Super Eagles all the support needed to come out of Addis Ababa with a win Sunday against Ethiopia, the country’s football body said Wednesday.

President of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) Aminu Maigari stated this during a brief address to the players after Wednesday evening’s training session at the main bowl of the Abuja National Stadium, Xinhua reported.

Maigari, who described the Oct 13 encounter as crucial and critical, said the association has absolute confidence in the African champions’ abilities to overcome whatever odds the Ethiopians would mount.

All 23 players trained at the Abuja National Stadium on Wednesday evening. The match is the first leg tie in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Africa Final Elimination Series.

The match, between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Ethiopia’s Walya Antelopes is scheduled for the 28,000-capacity Addis Ababa National Stadium, with 4 p.m. Ethiopian time as kick- off time.
