No crowd support for Spain in Brazil: Sergio Ramos

Sergio Ramos

Spain and Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos believes winning the 2014 World Cup in Brazil will be a harder challenge, as they receive little to no support unlike the backing they got in South Africa three years ago.

In fact, the Spain international is expecting a hostile reception for his team from the get go.

Speaking to reporters in Johannesburg ahead of Spain’s friendly with South Africa, Ramos was talking about the difference in atmosphere that he expects at Brazil next year as compared to the previous edition.

“The competition between Spain and Brazil is very strong and we don’t expect the Brazil fans to support us the way South Africans do,” the centre-back told journalists.

“Obviously, we will be expecting less support during the World Cup.”

Spain play South Africa in Johannesburg on Tuesday night, following a rather uninspiring 2-1 win over Equatorial Guinea where they were made to work hard for the win.
