No need to worry Wayne!!

Wayne Rooney

After a long summer & after the cream of world football talent was showcased in South Africa, the World’s most famous football league kicked off last weekend & didn’t it do so with a cracker of match between the Tottenham Hotspurs & Man City, the most wealthiest football club in the globe. Anyone with basic football sense could have inferred that Tottenham should have banged in at least 4 goals. This match though provided plenty of entertainment, we did not get to see any goals from either of the teams. Now as far criticism for not scoring any goals is concerned , one big player who is being criticized or rather his lackluster form is being hyped by the many for not producing any goals, is the talisman of Manchester United Wayne Rooney.

The match between Man Utd & the Toon Army though being a midnight kick off for viewers in India I managed to watch the full game & was very much pleased to the performance Man United. Man United, whom I have been following for 10 years now, were playing in the same manner I know they play well. Like any great team when Man United attack its not about only their strikers taking the responsibility to put the ball in to the back of the net. For a player who is as talented as Wayne Rooney, its not very necessary to keep scoring. Rooney has got the best vision amongst himself, Berbatov & Owen & Macheda is still learning & its too early to comment on Chicharito. Wayne Rooney is class act, a special player who no doubt looks great when he keeps scoring goals but that does not straightaway mean that if he does not score Manchester United need to worry.

For me Wayne Rooney more than being a goal scorer is more of a influential player who has also go that touch of brilliance & vision with which he can set up goals for his team mates to score. Remember he was the one who got the assist for Fletcher’s goal against Newcastle & he also made brilliant flick with outside of his right foot to set up a pretty easy chance for Berbatov who failed to convert. There was also a instance where Rooney was dispossessed by a Newcastle player, he instead of leaving it to the likes of Fletcher & Scholes himself chose to chase down the player almost till Van Der Sar’s end & won the ball & played it forward to launch a fresh Man United attack. If some asks me, about whose goal scoring ability am I worried about my answer would always be Dimitar Berbatov, cos I know Wayne will get the goals for Man United. Hope Berbatov gets many goals this season & proves me wrong.
