Erik Lamela has joined Tottenham Hotspur from Italian club AS Roma for a fee believed to be around £30 million, Italian club have confirmed on their website.
The 21-year-old, who is nicknamed Coco, has played for River Plate in his hometown in Argentina.
The midfielder had a brilliant last season is Serie A -scoring 15 goals.
The Argentina international joins Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Nacer Chadli and Etienne Capoue as big name signings for the north London club this season. Total spending of this summer with the signing of Lamela has moved to £88,400,000.
With this signing Villas-Boas will look to plug holes in Spurs’ midfield which are left by Bale’s departure to Real Madrid.
