A brilliant midfielder and second vice-captain of Turkish giants, Beskitas, Oguzhan Ozyakup has been making waves, with performances that have put him on the radar of some of the continent's more famous teams.

His splendid performances in the Turkish Super Lig, as well as his ridiculously low buyout clause of only €12m, has added weight to the speculation that the player could be on the move this summer.

Ozyakup is a talented 25-year-old midfielder who developed his talent through Arsenal's academy but made only a handful of appearances for the Premier League club.

Current Turkish champions Beşiktaş signed the player in 2012 for a reported fee of €500,000. It has proven to be a mutually beneficial deal as the player has become a vital part of the team and helped the club to win consecutive Super Lig trophies in 2016 and 2017.

Beşiktaş have done their best to assemble a team that can challenge the Champions League's big names. Ozyakup has been given an important role in a team that features many players whose names will be well-known to football audiences across Europe, among them Ricardo Quaresma, Ryan Babel, Anderson Talisca and Álvaro Negredo

Beşiktaş' number 10 has made 32 appearances for his team this season, registering three assists. The player is known primarily for his great passing abilities (this season he has accumulated an 83.7% passing accuracy) and his intelligence. Ozyakup is a versatile player capable of playing in a variety of roles in central midfield.

The midfielder is said to have been scouted by a large number of teams all hoping to convince him to join in the transfer window. The 25-year-old's contract is due to expire at the end of the year and with a relatively low release clause; his transfer is seen as a bargain deal.

Borussia Dortmund is said to be in pole position to sign the Turkish international as the German team has had a below average season in the Bundesliga and will look to improve their squad for the next campaign.

Newcastle is another team rumored to be taking an interest in Ozyakup. The Premier League team are likely to finish mid-table, well above initial expectations and they are eager to meet the challenges of next year.

It's understood, however, that the Turkish player's wage demands could represent an issue for the English team.

Which teams are interested in signing Ozyakup?

Arsenal is another team that could make a last-minute bid for the talented midfielder. It was reported last season that Arsene Wenger was looking into the possibility of signing the player as a back-up to midfield maestro Mesut Ozil.

Arsenal's Premier League rivals Manchester United are also said to have the player on their shortlist. With Jose Mourinho desperate to challenge for the elusive Premier League trophy, a new batch of players could be making their way to Old Trafford and Ozyakup could be one of them.

What's next for Ozyakup?

The player is likely to jump at the chance to take a step forward in his career and leave at the end of the season. Until then, Besiktas will be looking to win the Super Lig trophy for a third year running.

The team is currently third in the table, one point behind leaders Galatasaray. It's interesting to note that the four top teams in the league are distanced by only three points.

There are five matches remaining and with the club still, to play Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, Ozyakup could add another Super Lig medal to his resume.
