Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has come out and said that he has a sure shot plan to win the Ballon d’Or. He hasn’t made any rash claims, but has instead given his blue print to win the coveted trophy.

“Before thinking about Ballon d’Or, before being part of the top 10 players in the world, I first have to be in top 10 forwards in England.

“I am starting to make a name for myself among that top 10 and I want to do it this year. That is a short-term objective.”

Giroud has scored six goals this season, including four goals in the first four games of the Premier League. Although he had a slow start last year, he still ended the season with 17 goals in all competitions. And he knows that there will be more pressure on him to deliver this season.

“The second seasons are always difficult. Last season I scored and assisted so people will ask for more. So, more expectation and more pressure.

The French striker also admits that he could have performed better last season if he was in the right frame of mind.

“When I joined the club of course I put myself under big pressure may be too much because I replaced [Robin] Van Persie. Frankly early last season, I didn’t make the right gestures, I was tense. I was stiff like a stick.”

Winning the FIFA Ballon d’Or will be a tough task as Lionel Messi has won it thrice already after the award was started in 2010. Players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Andres Iniesta and Xavi have all lost out to the Barcelona forward.
