Japan hit Honduras for six in their first game

Honduras faced Japan in the second encounter of Group E where both the teams thought of beginning their campaign in style, but in truth, it turned out to be a massive one-sided affair after Japan thrashed Honduras 6-1. Just the day before the game the Honduras coach Jose Valladares claimed that he wanted to return back home as Champions, but today they were handed in a reality check. The Coach’s frustration was evident by his expression during the press conference as he requested to keep it a short press conference.

The summary of the press conference is given below:

“We conceded early within the first 25mins and then it turned out to be a disastrous game for us, we tried to stop them(Japan) but we couldn’t” Jose Statement when asked to describe the game.

The coach admitted that the amount of quality present in the Japan team was a bit of surprise for him but what surprised him, even more, was the level of mistakes that his team committed. He had a feeling that for every mistake they were made to pay as Japan scored 6 a score he didn't think would happen.

Honduras looked out of idea’s after their physical gameplay tactics failed and Japan overcame the physical aspect by playing swift and fast football down the flanks which really didn't let the central midfielders play their physically dominating game more often than not they were really stretched and were running to the bylines to help their wing backs which let Japan have more space in the middle. The coach also wanted to improve his team’s overall game and especially their passing and attacking moves.

Jose said he did have a look at the New Caledonia game and that his team will prepare accordingly and work hard in practice. They would also try to rectify the mistakes they made in this match so that they didn't repeat them in the future. He also said it is still not the end of the road for his team they still have minimum two more games to play and were looking forward to those fixtures.

As for positives from this game goes, the coach admitted that even though there weren't many positives to take from this game, but the goal by Patrick Palacios a couple of moves and long shots taken by right-back Santiago Cabrera were positive signs.
