Paul Lambert comes to Wenger’s Rescue

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert feels Arsene Wenger is right up there with the game’s greats managers.

Lambert says under-fire boss Arsene Wenger should be mentioned in the same breath as legends like Alf Ramsey and Bob Paisley.

Lambert was shocked when Arsenal fans sang, “You don’t know what you’re doing” at Wenger during the Gunners’ 0-0 draw at Villa Park earlier this season.

He said: “In 16 years he’s won the Premier League and FA Cup. He wasn’t so far away from winning the Champions League. If that’s, ‘You don’t know what you’re doing’, there’s something not right.

“I’d put him right up there with Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho, Ottmar Hitzfeld, Jock Stein, Bill Paisley and Alf Ramsey.”
