After impressing off the bench against Paraguay, Giovani Lo Celso was handed a start in the game tonight and rewarded Scaloni for his faith by grabbing a wonderful assist for Nicolas Gonzalez in the 17th minute.

The Tottenham Hotspur man displayed his quick feet, vision, composure and passing tonight, which would go a long way in helping him secure a guaranteed spot in the starting XI.

He assisted Nicolas Gonzalez, who is proving himself as a useful part of the team with his intent, eye for the goal and intelligent movements.

#2 Argentina keep the pressure on Brazil in the standings and their unbeaten streak alive

Argentina are not taking any chances in the Qualifiers, as they did in 2018 when they only secured a spot in the World Cup finals on the last day of the Qualifiers.

With three wins and a draw in the four games so far, they are second in the standings, just two points behind Brazil, who've won all four of their fixtures so far.

Overall, Scaloni's side have not lost a game since last year's Copa America, which makes it 11 games on the spin without a loss for Argentina. Their 2-0 win over Peru tonight was also a first in their travels to the North Andean nation since 2004.

#1 Lionel Messi is now goalless in his last three outings for Argentina

Lionel Messi has not been at his attacking best in the qualifiers so far and has only a goal which came from the penalty spot to his name. Well, that does not mean that the 33-year-old has not been crucial to the team's success.

He has been pulling the strings from the midfield and was crucial in the buildup of the second goal. Messi's slick pass found Leandro Paredes, who then perfectly picked out Martinez.

It is good to see that Argentina's reliance on their all-time top scorer is declining, but it would be great to see the Barcelona man at his best in national colours soon.
