West Ham put in a solid defensive display

Darren Randolph: 8.5/10

A superb performance from the Irish International who was on hand to save his team whenever needed. He was called into action more regularly in the second half and his performance merits Bilic’s decision to put him in goal instead of Adrian.

Cheikhou Kouyate: 7/10

Kouyate put in another strong defensive performance in the Hammers three-man defence. He kept a close eye on Rashford and forced the youngster into making errors in the final third.

Angelo Ogbonna: 8/10

An excellent outing for the former Juventus defender, his vital interceptions and blocks ensured that West Ham still remained in the game. Conceding just the one goal will be seen as a job well done.

James Collins: 6/10

Collins might have not been as sharp as his fellow centre-backs but he did his job well whenever he was called into action. Barring a few mistakes, it was a good performance from the Welshman.

Aaron Cresswell: 6.5/10

Cresswell operated more as a full back than a wing back as his side were on the back foot for the majority of the game. He supported Payet in attack at every chance while also sticking to his defensive duties.

Mark Noble: 7/10

The West Ham skipper always seems to turn up in the big games and his performance was no different at Old Trafford. He worked tirelessly from the first minute to the last both in attack and in defence.

Pedro Obiang: 6/10

Obiang operated the deepest of the midfielders although he did move forward when the opportunity was presented. He did extremely well to nullify the threat of Herrera.

Michail Antonio: 7.5/10

Antonio bombed down the right wing at every chance he got but he was also wary of falling back into defence when required. It was an overall outstanding performance from the Englishman who showed tremendous work rate and stamina throughout the 90.

Manuel Lanzini: 6/10

The Argentine did an efficient job of playing behind the striker but he had to drop deeper as Manchester United dominated possession. The 23-year-old was taken off for the final 15 minutes and was replaced by Ayew.

Dimitri Payet: 7/10

The French wizard delivered a beautiful free kick for Sakho’s goal and he consistently put in dangerous balls into the box from set-pieces. He nearly caught out De Gea with a free kick although the Spanish keeper made no mistake of tipping it over the bar.

Diafra Sakho: 7/10

Sakho made only his second league appearance of the season and he scored the opener with a powerful header in the opening 90 seconds of the game. He is still not fit enough to complete the 90 and he was subbed off on the stroke of the hour mark.

Substitutes

Ashley Fletcher: 5/10

The former Manchester United youth talent came on for Sakho in the second half but was left isolated up front for most of his time on the pitch. He only had one real chance, which he hit straight at De Gea.

Andre Ayew: 5/10

Ayew replaced Lanzini towards the end of the game to provide fresh legs in the Hammers midfield.

Sofiane Feghouli: (N/A)

Came on for Payet to help run down the clock.
