Arsenal's player ratings for their first away win in 2018 against Huddersfield

Huddersfield Town v Arsenal - Premier League
Wenger in his last match in charge

Arsenal

David Ospina: 8/10

He performed so much better than Arsenal's first choice keeper, Petr Cech. In the opening minutes of the game, Ospina had to make a few good saves to deny the home team from taking an early lead.

Huddersfield threatened with their multiple set-pieces and from open play, the players looked dangerous on the counter-attack. Ospina responded to all the pressure calmly and it was a really wonderful performance from him.

Hector Bellerin: 7/10

Bellerin and his team-mates arriving prior to the match

Runs from Bellerin made Arsenal moved forward a lot quicker. He was always on the lookout for opportunities to make a cross into the box. However, on a defensive note, there were some occasions where Bellerin slipped. He was fortunate that Huddersfield did not capitalize on his mistakes.

Shkodran Mustafi: 7/10

The German defender returned to the starting line-up to partner youngster Rob Holding. He hardly made any mistakes and should be thanked for making a couple of vital interceptions and blocks during the match.

Rob Holding: 7/10

He could have learned a lot from this match. At times, he was pulled out of his comfort zone and was exposed to different types of challenges. Overall, it was a good step towards gaining more Premier League experience and preparing for the upcoming season.

Sead Kolasinac: 7.5/10

A great run from Kolasinac showed that Arsenal had some urgency in their game. His run gave his side a free-kick in which Mkhitaryan could have done much better.

At the far post, Kolasinac missed a great chance to score the opener after Xhaka swung the ball into the box from a corner.

Granit Xhaka: 7/10

Most of the time, he helped the Arsenal defenders at the back. When Holding slipped in his tackle, Xhaka got back immediately into the position of a center-back and defended well. He has become more alert to his surroundings and aware of the runs made by his opponents.

Aaron Ramsey: 7.5/10

Huddersfield Town v Arsenal - Premier League
Ramsey had a great game in an advanced role

Despite the early defensive work that Arsenal had to do, Ramsey left Xhaka to deal with the pressure while he advanced to join the forwards.

In this match (with nothing much left to play for), Ramsey had played a critical role whenever he got forward. He had lots of chances to create something for his team. Although he missed a number of them, he assisted Aubameyang in scoring Arsenal's first goal.

Alex Iwobi: 6.5/10

Iwobi's influence grew in the second half but was eventually replaced by Maitland-Niles. The Nigerian midfielder is having some difficulty in finding his form. He had misplaced passes far too often in the first-half and became more alert only in the latter half.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan: 7/10

He was energetic in the game but lost the ball a couple of times in the early stages of the match. In the first free kick for the Gunners, his free-kick was absolutely poor as his shot hit the five-men wall immediately.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: 7.5/10

Huddersfield Town v Arsenal - Premier League
Aubameyang has scored 10 goals in 13 appearances for the Gunners

Aubameyang opened the scoring in his usual style. A low cross into the box from Ramsey and the Gabon international slid the ball into the box without much hesitation. It looks certain that the striker will have a huge role next season in the Premier League and Europa League. One area of improvement for Aubameyang will be his passing. He could have been more accurate with his passes and be more pro-active in searching for the ball.

Alexandre Lacazette: 7/10

The French striker missed some good chances to extend the lead for his team. Throughout the match, Lacazette was extremely active in searching for the ball. He was running all around his opponent's half, trying to get more of the ball and create something for his side. It was an encouraging performance for him and hopefully, it will help him secure a place in the World Cup.

Substitutes:

Danny Welbeck: 6.5/10

Welbeck missed a huge chance to score Arsenal's second of the afternoon. Instead of passing the ball to Lacazette who was available, the English striker tried to take matters into his own hands. Unfortunately, his shot was quickly blocked by the keeper.

Nacho Monreal: 6.5/10

He continued to take on the role as a left-back. By the time he came on, there was little attacking work to do as Huddersfield threatened to score an equalizer anytime.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles: 6/10

Maitland-Niles was initially deployed in the midfield, but as defensive duties increased, he shifted to the backline to help out Bellerin and tidy things up to ensure a clean sheet.
