It is still summer pre-season & experimentation continued to be part of the method as Real Coach José Mourinho moved pieces about in order to fine tune his football “machine”. The good news from this match was that Frenchman Karim Benzema looked sharp, in tune with the game & scored two goals.

The German team was strong initially as it blocked out Madrid in the midfield and were effective with their counter-attacks. From one of these counter-attacks came the first goal in the 12th minute when Ebert put Berlin ahead. From here, Real Madrid began putting together their moves & plays to begin dominating proceedings. Then in the 29th minute Cristiano Ronaldo scored fired a free-kick “missile” that flew past the German goal keeper to equalize the scores

The balance shifted from here towards Real Madrid who practically controlled things with Herta Berlin creating some minor opportunities. Karim Benzema went on to prove menacing as time went on & was rewarded when he scored in the 33rd minute. The Frenchman again scored at the start of the second half in the 47th min when Khedira, who had come on, gave a angled pass that Benzema managed to score from, after dodging the ‘keeper.
