Issa Diop is a 22-year-old centre-back who currently plays for West Ham in the Premier League. He has also featured six times for France U21s and is yet to be called up to the senior side.

When the Hammers splashed out £22m on a relatively unknown defender in the summer, many fans became cynical of the new signing, believing that he hadn't shown enough to warrant such a costly move to England. However, his performances this season have shut everybody up and he's turned into a rock at the back for West Ham.

From a total of 30 matches, Issa Diop has kept five cleansheets and scored a single goal. Some might say that the number of cleansheets he's earned is low, but consider the West Ham team right now - it's not the greatest in the league as they're in the process of rebuilding.

So, the fact that he's even managed to pick up one is verging on a miracle, given how fickle their defence is in general.

West Ham are 11th in the table at the moment, which is a reasonable standing for a club of their stature. Though they will be hoping for much more next season, with the likes of Issa Diop and other top stars playing even better than they have been.
