Premier League 2017/18: Arsenal 1-3 Manchester United, Player Ratings

Jesse L
Jesse Lingard was the man of the match with two goals to his name.

Arsenal failed to get their 13th consecutive home win as a rampant Manchester United side halted the Gunners' progress with two goals in the first 11 minutes of the game - eventually winning 3-1.

Antonio Valencia and Jesse Lingard did superbly well to give Manchester United and held it till half time post which we saw 2 more goals, 1 from each side, 1 red card, 1 blatant penalty decision and the display of a lifetime from arguably the Premier League's best goalkeeper, David de Gea.

Here's how the players from both teams fared:

Arsenal

Petr Cech - 5/10

Just plain poor from the Czech. It's time to finally admit that the keeper is getting too old for the stresses and the demands of the Premier League.

Nacho Monreal - 6/10

A shadow of the player he's shown us this season and was too often, too easily bullied by that Belgian steamroller.

Laurent Koscielny - 6/10

There was a moment in the 2nd half when the captain got a crucial block only to follow it moments later by letting compatriot Paul Pogba dance around and get the assist for Manchester United's clincher. Very lucky to be on the field, too. Should have seen red for a tackle on Romelu Lukaku.

Shkodran Mustafi - 5/10

He'll regret allowing the ball to come across his body before it was stolen. Couldn't see him win back that fight as he hobbled off with an injury.

Sead Kolasinac - 6/10

Doesn't look comfortable at all playing as a left-back, his attacking side of the game is almost curbed. Did get a good shot on target but couldn't and didn't do much else.

Hector Bellerin - 5.5/10

Barring being the victim of Paul Pogba's nasty, nasty tackle, Hector Bellerin was inconspicuous and off his game tonight. Maybe the continuous games are getting to him and he looks like he needs a break.

Granit Xhaka - 6/10

Too easily brushed aside again but did force Romelu Lukaku to almost score in his own net with a brawl-ish take in the second half.

Aaron Ramsey - 6.5/10

His run and assist for Arsenal's goal were sublime. Such a talented player but couldn't do much when he's got 10 defenders ahead of him all game.

Alexis Sanchez - 6/10

Yes, he found Ramsey with the ball but he also lost the ball a total of 34 times in the whole match - more than anyone else - and that's starting to really hurt Arsenal in key games such as this.

Mesut Ozil - 6.5/10

Didn't do anything wrong but didn't really do anything right either. His link-up play is still excellent and he's starting to really build a relationship with Alexander Lacazette up top.

Alexander Lacazette - 8/10

Arsenal's best performer of the day. His runs, his ball-control, his chips, his flicks, his lobs and his goal were all amazing. Such an incredible talent and one who could really help Arsenal henceforth.

Substitutes

Alex Iwobi - 6/10

Came on for the injured Mustafi in the first half. Did have a couple of bright moments but needs to work on his final ball. Had a great shot on goal, too.

Danny Welbeck - 6/10

Didn't score for his former club but didn't really have the chance to do so given he came on so late. Needs to add more to his game, though.

Olivier Giroud - 6/10

Never quite got into the game.

Pog

Paul Pogba seeing red was the only downside to Manchester United's otherwise good performance.

Manchester United

David De Gea - 10/10

The perfect performance from the Spaniard today. His reflexes are almost supernatural and the only reason he wasn't able to keep a clean sheet is because his defence let him down. Gold.

Ashley Young - 8/10

Can't seem to make a wrong decision these days. On top of his game and his subtle hide-and-run effort to block an Ozil free-kick showed his intelligence - something Manchester United need this season.

Victor Lindelof - 7/10

Followed Alexis Sanchez around all first-half and did an excellent job of holding the Chilean but was prone to the occasional lapse in concentration in the second.

Chris Smalling - 7/10

Did well given the scoreline but in all honesty, had problems dealing with Lacazette's runs in behind.

Marcos Rojo - 6/10

Manchester United's poorest defender of the night. Couldn't handle the agility of both Lacazette and Sanchez and fouled his way to stop Arsenal. Not the morale-boosting performance he'd have liked.

Antonio Valencia - 8/10

A true Manchester United legend in the current squad. He's so good at the back and he's enjoying getting back to the attacking side of his game and his goal was an excellent shot megging two players in the process.

Paul Pogba - 6/10

His red card ruined an otherwise perfect performance from Manchester United. Will miss the key derby next weekend. An excellent assist for United's third, though.

Nemanja Matic - 8/10

Solid as always and with every game you see him play, you can't help but wonder what Chelsea were thinking of when they decided to sell him in the summer. Superb in midfield, as usual, and got an incredible block to deny Ramsey in the first half.

Anthony Martial - 8/10

That subtle flick to send Jesse Lingard through on goal was such a joy to watch. He's enjoying a rich vein of form and United are so much more dangerous with him on the team.

Jesse Lingard - 9.5/10

Completely a new player with his role now more of a central attacker and showed today with two good goals and an applaud-worthy contribution to getting back and defending as well.

Romelu Lukaku - 6.5/10

Don't remember him doing anything of use all game. His dip in form is starting to get worrying.

Substitutes

Ander Herrera - 6/10

Made only 4 accurate passes having been on the field for nearly 30 minutes and that shows you why his manager isn't starting him anymore. Just plain poor.

Matteo Darmian - 6/10

A very lucky man given he clearly brought Welbeck down late in the second half.

Marcus Rashford - NA/10

Didn't play long enough to merit a rating.
