Jahanbakhsh began his trade at Damash Gilan before moving to NEC first and then to Alkmaar. Following an impressive season with the Dutch side Alkmaar last season, during which he netted 22 goals, the Iranian International caught the eyes of the Seagulls' manager Chris Hughton.

Brighton did not show any hesitation to pay a club-record fee of 19 million euros for Jahanbakhsh as they believe he is a talented forward capable of tearing up the opposition defense by himself.
