At least until the end of the season. The Spaniard’s contract with the Blues ends at the conclusion of the season, after which he can be a free agent. As a result, the former Barcelona star can sign a pre-contract in January with any club of his choice.

The former Arsenal man signed for Chelsea in 2014 after a rather erratic spell with his childhood club Barcelona. He has, however, not been the same player he once was in Arsenal and has seen his spot in the first team blocked by Jorginho.

Despite that, he has confessed that he will respect his contract fully.

“At the moment I haven’t spoken to anyone,” he said. “Obviously from January, I can sign with whoever I want and probably this will attract many clubs but so far, from what I can say right now, I will stay here until the end of the season.”
