Mourinho to go all-out for Kovacic, London clubs linked with Richarlison: Premier League transfer news, 26th January 2018

Leganes v Real Madrid - Spanish Copa del Rey
Kovacic is Croat genius

Hello and welcome to the final few days of the transfer window and the transfer rumours of the day. Today, there are updates about Aubameyang and Chelsea's new targets. There are also a few new players linked with clubs.

So without further ado, let's begin...

#5 Newcastle and West Ham

So Newcastle's pursuit for a striker will probably not end until the window slams shut. They have been linked with quite a few players, but no deals have materialised just yet. And unfortunately, there is more bad news.

According to the Voetbol International, Newcastle’s improved second bid for Nicolai Jorgensen has fallen short of Feyenoord’s valuation. The Magpies’ first bid was reported to be around €15 million.

Meanwhile, The Guardian report that Norwich City have received a £12 million bid for the prized asset James Maddison, who has been linked with Liverpool and Tottenham, from West Ham United. It is believed, however, that Norwich will not let him go for this and are likely to demand a higher fee.

#4 Watford and Saints

Saints could break their transfer record

While doing these roundups, there is something I realized. The epiphany isn’t really all that shocking, but it is interesting nonetheless. The most linked players in this window have been the strikers. Almost every Premier League club has been linked with a striker at least once in the rumour mill.

And Watford are no different. According to Le10 Sport, Watford have emerged as surprise contenders for former Chelsea man Loic Remy, who has fallen out of favour at Las Palmas.

Meanwhile, Mauricio Pellegrino is actively looking to sign players that can help the Saints avoid the drop. And according to Sky Sports, Quincy Promes is the player he has targeted. Southampton wish to complete the signing of the winger for a club record £30 million before the window slams shut.

#3 Richarlison and Aubameyang

Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund - UEFA Champions League
Auba is on Arsenal's radar

It is not always when I use a player’s name in the subheading to start a transfer rumour report, but such is the case with Richarlison that I have been forced into doing so.

The Watford youngster wasn’t entirely pleased with the sacking of Marco Silva and showed his discontent on Twitter with a single emoji. And now, UOL Esporte report that he wants to leave the club, and Watford have slapped a £50 million tag on him.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have been linked Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but the transfer may not happen in this window after all as the German outfit want €70 million for their prized asset, report Bild.

#2 Chelsea madness

Arsenal v West Ham United - Carabao Cup Quarter-Final
Giroud has been linked with Chelsea

Yes, I am going to label the things that Chelsea are doing as madness. Okay, let me rephrase that: I am going to label the things that are being reported about Chelsea as madness. I mean, come on, how many more target men will they be linked to?

They have already been linked with about 3257678 tall forwards and when it seemed like the world has run out of tall strikers to be linked with Chelsea, Mirror have come up with a new name: Olivier Giroud. The Stamford Bridge outfit are apparently trying to convince him.

Elsewhere, there is finally something other than a tall and big striker being linked to the Blues. It is being reported by Gianluca Di Marzio that Chelsea are after eyeing talented left-back Layvin Kurzawa of Paris-Saint Germain as an alternative for Ederson Palmieri.

#1 Manchester madness

Real Madrid v Deportivo La Coruna - La Liga
United's saviour?

New day, same old madness. This will never end—and I am so glad about it. After all, all of us are entertained because of it. I, for one, love it. Obviously, I am the Football Joker, so I love madness.

Enough digression. Turns out, the good folks at Don Balon state that Cristiano Ronaldo has ‘blacklisted’ 5 star players. What it means is that he has banned the club from signing these players, and two of them are Manchester United stars Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Meanwhile, the same outlet claim that Manchester United have shifted their focus towards the Galacticos’ supremely talented midfielder, Mateo Kovacic.
