West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that he would have liked to have some of his countrymen play for the Hammers. Pellegrini, who engineered the Hammers to a midtable finish, revealed a list of players who he took under his wing.

The likes of Matias Fernandez and Iturra have played under him and he also admitted that he wanted to sign Charles Aranguiz for West Ham but the player refused at the prospect of that.

“I will not talk about conversations, but I can tell you that I would have loved to have many Chilean players who have been figures worldwide,” Pellegrini was quoted as saying by Sports Witness.
“In the past I took several: Salas, Rojas, Matías Fernández, Iturra, Moras; I have taken 7 or 8 Chilean players. I tried to take Aránguiz to West Ham, but he did not want to.”
