Staying in North London, the white half failed to make a single signing in the summer – a move that baffled many. However, it seems as though their Argentine manager is not a man who would sanction signings just for show.

Speaking about the transfer market, Pochettino stated that the team does need new signings in order to change their “dynamic”. However, he also expressed his disdain at the idea of signing players just for the sake of it.

“Of course we are always trying to improve our squad because football is dynamic,” he said.

“Every six months you need to do something to refresh and to wake up. Or change the dynamic in the dressing room.

“But if you cannot achieve what you want, and you need to sign because you want to make people happy or act like all the clubs, I think that is not common sense.”
