Premier League transfer news: Harry Kane to Manchester United, Pulisic to Liverpool and more - 12 January 2018

Trinidad & Tobago v United States - FIFA 2018 World Cup Qualifier
Liverpool could sign Pulisic

Is a drab intro really necessary? I guess for the sake of courtesy, it is. Anyways, today's drama features some big names as Liverpool and Manchester United have been linked with a number of players.

There is also an update on the situation of Theo Walcott and some more interesting links. So here we go...

#5 Stoke, Leicester City and West Ham

Swansea City v Huddersfield Town - Premier League
50 million and he is all yours!

According to TMW in France, Stoke City are actively pursuing Antalayaspor player, William Vainqueur this month. However, Leicester City are also interested in the defensive midfielder who impressed in France last season.

Meanwhile, Swansea manager Carlos Carvalhal stated that he will not sell any of his star players unless there is a huge bid in place, which is perhaps an indirect indication to West Ham about the amount of money they should cough up for Alfie Mawson.

“We will not sell the best players in January, the message is clear. I have had guarantees from the chairman, but it depends if someone comes in and gives £50million, £100million, £250million."

“Of course, then it is completely different – to me, (Philippe) Coutinho or Neymar. You can never say that it will not happen, but the fundamental idea is not to sell players and try to improve the team.”

#4 Update on Walcott

Chelsea v Arsenal - Carabao Cup Semi-Final: First Leg
A permanent move on the cards?

Sam Allardyce has confirmed that Everton are indeed trying to secure the services of Theo Walcott, but not on loan. In fact, the former England manager stated that the deal will be permanent.

“Some negotiations are going on. [The deal] is permanent, I don’t think there’s any chance of a loan."

“We’ll wait and see. I’ll be very excited and enthused- if it’s not Theo- if somebody has signed on the dotted line."

“You don’t get optimistic because so many things can happen in such a short space of time. You never get excited until someone has signed on the dotted line.”

The price quoted by various outlets is somewhere around £20 million.

#3 Tottenham, Brighton and Southampton

Corinthians v Sport Recife - Brasileirao Series A 2015
Malcom interest dropped

Spurs have been going on and off in this window’s rumour section. They are also yet to sign a player. However, there is one that they are looking at: Nadiem Amiri.

According to SportBILD, the German starlet is on the radar of Spurs as the Lilywhites are keen to activate his release clause of £15 million. There is also a report from the Daily Mail about Spurs cooling their interest on Bordeaux’s Malcom as they aren’t willing to spend £45 million on the player.

Meanwhile, TeamTALK have run an exclusive, where they have revealed that Brighton & Hove Albion have signed highly talented Irish defender, Warren O’Hara, for an undisclosed fee.

Finally, the Mirror has claimed that Southampton are in pole position to sign Ligue 1 hotshot, Guido Carrillo, from AS Monaco, as they are willing to pay his £50,000-a-week wage demands.

#2 Manchester madness

Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League
Kane is moving, isn't he?

Today is one of those days where a number of rumours are involving the Red Devils. According to Sky Sport Italia, Manchester United offered Henrikh Mkhitaryan plus cash for Alexis Sanchez in an attempt to steal the forward from rivals Manchester City.

However, The Sun believes that Alexis refused the offer as his heart is set on a move to Manchester City.

Meanwhile, the Independent claims that Manchester United are keeping tabs on Christian Pulisic, who once admitted that he supported the Red Devils as a child.

Finally, The Telegraph has reported that the Old Trafford outfit made enquiries about Jamie Vardy and their former striker, Javier Hernandez, as they continue seeking a backup for Romelu Lukaku.

Oh, wait, wait… that is not all. Tuttomercatoweb has reported that United are targeting Spurs duo Harry Kane and Danny Rose. Yeah, well, good luck with that!

#1 Lavish Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham United - Premier League
Lanzini to Reds?

Yup, I decided to put Liverpool in the end because there are quite a few new rumours about them as well. First of all, in the same report of Independent, it has been claimed that Liverpool are also monitoring the situation of Christian Pulisic.

Meanwhile, the Merseyside outfit has locked horns with Tottenham over the signature of England U21 James Maddison, who plays for Norwich. The deal, however, could only happen in the summer as Norwich are resigned to losing Alex Pritchard to Huddersfield.

Also, Bleacher Report claims that Liverpool could move for Manuel Lanzini, but no contact has been made as of yet.

Finally, Calcio Mercato has reported that the Kops are looking to acquire AC Milan midfielder Suso. Suso, who once played for Liverpool before leaving for Milan, has a release clause of somewhere between £36-45 million and the Reds could activate it.
