Paris, June 27 (IANS) French football champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on Monday confirmed they have parted ways with chief coach Laurent Blanc.

The Frenchman led the outfit to the domestic title last season but it was not enough for him to keep his job.

In the Champions League, PSG were ousted by Manchester City 3-2 on aggregate which led to club president Nasser al-Khelaifi declaring their season as a "failure" earlier this month.

On Monday, Khelaifi in a club statement said, "As we embark on a new chapter in the development of the club, I would like to thank Laurent Blanc for everything he has achieved over the last three years, both in terms of the playing style and results."

Assistant coach Jean-Louis Gasset and head fitness trainer Philippe Lambert, would also leave the club as part of the agreement.

"During his three years at the club, Blanc guided the side to 11 trophies, including two national quadruples, and left a significant mark on the great history of Paris Saint-Germain," the statement added.
