Racist chants directed towards Scotland winger in Macedonia

Allegations that racist chants were directed at Scotland winger Ikechi Anya during his side’s 2-1 defeat of Macedonia in Skopje on Tuesday have been passed on to FIFA by FARE (Football Against Racism in Europe), a body set up to combat racism in football in Europe.

There were claims following the game that racist chants were directed at Scottish winger Ikechi Anya, 25, who opened the scoring for Scotland as they defeated Macedonia on his first start for his country.

Scotland, meanwhile, have dropped 13 places from 50th to 63rd in FIFA’s ranking system after their defeats against England in a friendly and Group A leaders Belgium in their World Cup qualifying campaign.
