Radamel Falcao will be back in form soon, says Van Gaal

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has reiterated that Colombian forward Radamel Falcao will return to his goal scoring ways soon.

The 29-year-old, who joined the Red Devils for a sum of £6 million on a one-year loan deal has failed to impress thus far, having missed almost an entire year before joining due to a ligament injury, and has played just 19 games across all competitions and scored just four goals.

The 63-year-old Dutchman stressed on that point, saying that the injury resulted in him not having ideal preparation before the start of the League but sounded confident of him returning to the scoresheet once he regains full fitness.

"We mustn't forget the severe injury he suffered last year and how it kept him out for such a long period and resulted in him not having a good preseason, which is always the catalyst for the campaign ahead.”

"I believe he just needs a little time to build his confidence and match sharpness, and it won't be long until he is showing everybody the talent that we all know he has,” Van Gaal said.

The former Monaco striker recently represented the United U-21 team against their Tottenham counterparts on Tuesday and failed to hit the back of the net despite spending 72 minutes on the pitch. He came on as a substitute for Marouane Fellaini in the 83rd minute of the game against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
