Rafael's future at Manchester United under Louis van Gaal looks bleak

Rafael da Silva unclear of his future at Manchester United

Manchester united right back Rafael da Silva, might end up being offloaded, with Louis van Gaal readying the list of people he wants to sell next. United manager Louis van Gaal will be speaking to Ed Woodward, the executive vice-chairman about the future of certain players.

These discussions will include the extension or sale of the players like Rafael, David de Gea, Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao.

Rafael who has only 12 months remaining on his contract has not made an appearance for United ever since the third-round win at Yeovil, and with Van Gaal showing interest in Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne it seems less and less likely that the Brazilian will be staying.

Paddy McNair’s recent impressive performance has put Rafael lower down the pecking order. McNair’s has imprssed the Dutchman so much that he complemented him saying McNair could be “the United right-back for the next 10 years”.

McNair was one of the players who received a contract extension along with Tyler Blackett, and Reece James.
