Gordon Hodgson might not be popular among young Liverpool fans. However, his record for the club is remarkable. He scored 241 goals in 377 appearances across competitions.

Hodgson was a South African-born player who spent most of his life in England. He signed for the Merseyside-based club in 1925, and enjoyed a fruitful 11-year tenure. Surprisingly, he represented both South Africa and England at the international level.

Besides being a lethal striker, Hodgson was also adept in playing cricket. He was a fast bowler for Lancashire. Hodgson is the Reds’ third-highest goalscorer, behind only Ian Rush and Roger Hunt. The burly six-footer also plied his trade for Aston Villa and Leeds United.

#2 Mohamed Salah - 233 games

Mohamed Salah is the only active player on this list. The Egyptian winger recently scored his 150th goal for the club, becoming the second quickest Liverpool player to reach the landmark.

Salah had a brilliant debut season under Jurgen Klopp in 2017-18. The right-winger has been the most consistent forward in the Premier League over the years. The 29-year-old has won two Premier League Golden Boot awards, and is well on course to win a third one this term.

The Liverpool number 11 has scored 152 goals in 234 outings for the club across competitions. He has also registered 57 assists. In just four and a half seasons at Anfield, Salah has drawn comparisons with some all-time greats at the club, and for good reason.

Roger Hunt is the fastest player to score 150 goals for Liverpool. The Englishman is the second-highest goalscorer in the club’s history with 286 goals across competitions. His 244 league strikes make him the highest league goalscorer for the club.

Hunt enjoyed a highly prosperous 11-year stay at Anfield, between 1958 and 1969. He was the club’s highest goalscorer for around two decades before Rush surpassed him in 1992. Hunt won two English First Division titles and one FA Cup with the Merseysiders.

The serial goalscorer was also a part of the English team that won the 1966 FIFA World Cup. Hunt used to wear the iconic No.8 for Liverpool, and is regarded as one of the greatest players ever to play for the English giants. The Liverpool legend died last year at the age of 83.
