#3 2015/16: Undécima
The 2015/16 season looked a lot like the 2013/14, Real Madrid did not have a good season collectively the previous year and they were desperate to achieve new goals.
Cristiano Ronaldo understood the message better than anyone else. Even after a bad start to the year under Rafa Benítez and a significantly painful loss to Barcelona at home in November 2015, Los Blancos were enjoying a good UCL, with Ronaldo putting up a record 11 goals in the group stage and the team rising to the first place, a good second half of the season awaited.
Madrid sacked Benítez early in January and named Zinedine Zidane to lead them to European success.
In Zidane's first European match as Real Madrid boss, Ronaldo delivered at Roma with an amazing goal to put Real Madrid in position to secure their spot in the quarterfinals. Ronaldo made sure of this with another goal in the second leg.
In the round of eight, after a great comeback victory at Camp Nou against Barcelona in La Liga, Madrid lost its way against Wolfsburg and ran into trouble after a 2-0 defeat in Germany. Disaster was near as many expected Los Blancos to fall because of their defensive woes, but Ronaldo came through with a hat-trick to lead them to the semifinals.
Ronaldo only played the second leg against Manchester City in the semifinals because of an injury, Real Madrid advanced to their second UCL final in three years and Ronaldo had 16 goals in the tournament for the second time in three years, too.
In the deciding match against Atlético de Madrid, Ronaldo netted the penalty that gave Real Madrid the triumph in the shootout and La Undécima.
His stats for that season were stunning. At 31 years old, the Portuguese virtuoso scored 51 goals in 48 games and assisted 15 times.
