#5 Eric Bailly

Bailly was Mourinho’s first big-money signing, making the switch from Villareal in 2016 for a fee of around £30 million. Initially, he looked like an excellent signing, and was a consistent performer for United at centre-back, as they had an impressive clean sheet record during both the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons. There was certainly a feeling that Bailly could be a vital player for the Red Devils for years to come.
However, things have been different this year, and Bailly’s form has been awful. The Ivorian had a bit of a shocker in his side’s 3-2 loss to Brighton earlier on this season, and things have gone downhill from there. He was taken off inside 20 minutes with United 2-0 down at home to Newcastle in October, and he hasn’t appeared in the side since then. There may be a chance that there is no way back for Bailly under Mourinho.
