The 27-year-old midfield enforcer, Casemiro, was once again on top of things for Real Madrid in the middle of the park. He shielded the rearguard with aplomb, recycled possession, was on hand to break up Club Brugge's attacking manoeuvres, and made vital incursions forward in a bid to get Real Madrid into the game.

The Brazilian international had a defensive contribution of 3 successful tackles and 1 interception. In attack, his contribution was immense, as he had a total of 4 key passes and 4 shots, with 3 of those attempts on target.

His most vital contribution came in the closing embers of the game, as he rose above Brugge's rearguard in the 85th minute to head the ball beyond Simon Mignolet and into the bottom right corner for the equaliser, saving the blushes of his manger and teammates in front of the demanding Santiago Bernabeu home crowd.
