Eden Hazard became Real Madrid's most expensive signing of all time when he completed his long-awaited transfer to the Bernabeu from Stamford Bridge. The Belgian international has been earmarked as the man to lead the club into the future.

Given his prior track record of performance at the highest level, these are not lofty ambitions and Hazard is more than capable of being Real Madrid's talisman.

However, so far during pre-season, things have not exactly gone to plan for the 28-year-old, as he has yet to hit top form in any of Real Madrid's five pre-season fixtures.

Against Fenerbahce, Eden Hazard was started from kickoff on the left flank of a 4-2-3-1, but for the entirety of his time on the field, he failed to offer anything of note, looked terribly out of shape and failed at executing even the most basic of passing, keeping in line with his struggles so far in the Real Madrid shirt.

Though pre-season generally should not be read too much into, as the players generally tend to pick up once the season proper kicks off. Real Madrid fans would be hoping this is the case with their marquee summer signing.
