Real Madrid: A season to forget for Isco?

Isco Alarcón is one of the most frustrated figures right now at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Spaniard, since the arrival of Santiago Solari, has struggled for playing time. In fact, no other player has been on the bench more than Isco in 2019 in LaLiga.

Since his arrival in the Spanish capital, Isco has seen a lot of ups and downs. The Spanish international was a revelation under Carlo Ancelotti but under Zinedine Zidane had to work hard to win over his confidence.

With his perseverance, hard work and dedication he cemented his place in the starting eleven rising above Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez and Marco Asensio in the pecking order. Such was Isco's impact that Zidane was forced to switch to a 4-4-2 diamond formation that could bring the best out of the Spaniard wizard in the 2016-17 season.

When Lopetegui was appointed as Zidane's successor it was believed that the former Malaga star would be an undisputed starter. But since Solari has taken over it looks like Isco is losing his patience and this could cost Real Madrid dearly with teams like Juventus, Chelsea and Manchester City interested in luring the Madrid star away.

Only Jesus Vallejo, Mariano Diaz and Brahim Diaz have played less than him, and the first two have been injured for two months. The 26-year-old has not started a match in LaLiga since Lopetegui’s sacking, having been relegated to a bench role with his few starts coming in the UEFA Champions League and Copa del Rey.

Ever since Isco said in one of Solari's first training sessions that he was not a fan of his training drills the tensions between the two have been on a rise. Solari on various occasions has denied any rift with the Spanish wiz and has blamed his exclusions on technical reasons or fitness but all signs point in that direction. A player of Isco's repute being dropped on a regular basis is definitely a telling sign.

Earlier this week former Madrid player Ruben de la Red addressed Isco’s situation saying : "Real Madrid is a club that does not wait for anyone. Every player in the squad is good enough to take your place and so whoever isn't performing to the required level will be left behind.”

Isco let everyone know what he felt with a tweet later on which stated: “I completely agree with De la Red, but when you are not getting the same opportunities as your team-mates, that changes things…Despite that, I'm continuing to work hard and battling for the moment when those opportunities arrive! Hala Madrid!!".

The Spaniard gave his piece of mind on this saga and expressed his frustration and it is for everyone to see, the board, fans and the clubs interested in him.

Conclusion

The relationship between Isco and the Argentine manager seems to be beyond repair and it could prove to be costly for Real Madrid if he is not given what he seeks as he may look for alternatives.

Isco's current season might be the worst of his career

The fans want to see their magician on the field and as it hurts for them to see a player of his caliber and capabilities rotting on the bench. Isco is having a season that nobody could have imagined.

Isco would be hoping the board is already paying attention to this fiasco. As things stand either Solari or Isco will be leaving the club at the end of the campaign.
