Real Madrid close to signing Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas

Spanish giants keen on securing Keylor Navas’ services

Levante goalkeeper, Keylor Navas, reportedly is Real Madrid’s 2nd signing of the summer, after Toni Kroos, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

The 27-year old Costa Rican international has been extremely impressive for the Spanish club since joining them on a permanent basis two seasons ago and was also one of the pivotal reasons for Costa Rica reaching the quarter-final stage of the 2014 FIFA World Cup with 3 clean sheets from 5 games, before eventually bowing out to Netherlands in a penalty shootout.

Navas’ pending signature for the Spanish giants might signal the end of Iker Casillas’ illustrious career at Real Madrid, having suffered a massive dip in form in the last 2 years. He was first dropped by former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho during the 2012-13 season in favour of Diego Lopez and ever since then, he has been in and out of the team reflecting the lack of faith in his capabilities.

His patchy club form spilled over to Spain during the summer, as he made quite a few howlers during Spain’s disastrous World Cup campaign.
