Real Madrid are hours away from completing the signing of Arsenal and Liverpool target Juan Iturbe from Italian outfit Verona, according to the Express.

The Argentinian Under-20 international has become one of the most sought-after players in Europe this season after some scintillating performances for Verona during his season-long loan.

Verona have come up with a rather clever plan, which has seen them activate Iturbe’s release clause at his parent club, Porto, in order to sell him on for a profit almost instantly.

The current clause stands at £13.2 million and considering Verona have activated it, they are now planning to meet with representatives from Real Madrid to thrash out a deal for the youngster to join Los Blancos.

Liverpool and Arsenal, who are also fighting for Loic Remy, have been reported to be keen suitors of his talent too. However, they seem set to lose out in the race for the Argentine after being put off the £24 million price-tag placed on Iturbe’s head by Verona.

Verona’s director Sean Sogliano said: “Iturbe? For me he is worth more than £24m.

“If we can sell at a figure to make a fortune for Verona he may leave, I do not know where he will go. I will only sit down with those who really want him,” he declared.
