Reports: Real Madrid man Lucas Silva might retire after failing medical at Sporting CP

Silva might quit football

Sad news coming out of Real Madrid as of their star youngsters Lucas Silva might be forced to quit football. The 23-year-old has not been a regular at the club but had a promising future ahead of him.

According to AS, the youngster Lucas Silva failed his medical at Portuguese club Sporting CP. The player was set for a loan move from his parent club to earn some crucial experience but now he might have to retire from the game.

The club have stated a heart condition as the reason for the failed medical. Both clubs had reached an agreement over the fee and personal terms had been agreed but now all that might prove to be irrelevant.

The loan move was supposed to be a one-year deal with the option to buy at the end of the season. Silva had earlier been on a loan spell with French club Marseille but he failed to impress during his time there.

Silva joined Madrid for a fee of 14 million Euros from Cruzeiro in 2014. He failed to make the first team then and hence the loan spells for the player. The player has only featured in 9 games for Madrid so far.

The player also has an emotional post on his Instagram profile which only points more towards the possibility of the player having hung up his boots. Here is the post from the player:

The post translates to: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race , I have kept the faith.

Heart conditions are a very serious matter and it’s a big blow for the club and the player’s family.
