Carlo Ancelotti has revealed his intention to retain Iker Casillas in the Real Madrid squad amid interest from Arsenal, writes the Metro.

Following Emiliano Viviano’s return to Palermo and ?ukasz Fabia?ski’s imminent transfer to Swansea City (he’ll team up with the Welsh club when his contract at Arsenal expires on 1 July), Wojciech Szcz?sny is the only senior goalkeeper on the books at the Emirates.

As such, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been scouring the market for Champions League-quality shot-stoppers, with Real Madrid’s Casillas emerging as a potential target.

Although he featured in every game in Madrid’s triumphant Champions League campaign, the 33-year-old played second fiddle to Diego Lopez in La Liga, making only two outings.

This has lead to speculation that the Spaniard could be on his way out of the Bernabeu, yet Ancelotti has been quick to quash such conjecture, insisting he’s happy to keep him.

“Casillas is very happy to stay here, and we’re happy that he’s staying,” Spanish newspaper AS reports him as saying.

Casillas is currently in Brazil ahead of Spain’s opening fixture against the Netherlands, although it remains to be seen whether he’ll get the nod ahead of Manchester United’s David de Gea.
